About
The word 智商 (zhìshāng), meaning "IQ", is formed by conceptually combining two ideas: 智 (zhì), which represents "wisdom" or "intelligence", and 商 (shāng), which in a mathematical context means "quotient" (as in division). It is thus a direct, logical translation of the Western concept "Intelligence Quotient", where the first character names the quality being measured and the second character specifies the methodological form of that measurement as a ratio or quotient.
