Definitions
Etymology
Arrow pointing forward, representing the idea "enter".
About
The character 入 is a pictograph depicting the pointed tip of a wedge or arrowhead. Its two strokes converge, with the left stroke starting lower and crossing beneath the right, a structure that distinguishes it from the characters for "person" (人) and "eight" (八). The image of a wedge penetrating a surface directly conveys the core meaning of entering, moving from outside to inside. As a verb, it describes physically going into a space, being admitted to an organization, or conceptually introducing elements into a system or receiving income.
