About
The phrase "请君入瓮" is formed directly from a Tang Dynasty historical incident where each character corresponds to an action in the story: 请 (invite), 君 (you, referring to the target), 入 (enter), and 瓮 (jar). It was coined when official Lai Junchen invited his colleague Zhou Xing to step into the very jar Zhou had used for torture, thus creating an idiom that literally means "please, sir, enter the jar" and conveys the concept of turning someone's methods against them.
