The character 诪 is a verb meaning to deceive or mislead through verbal trickery. As a phono-semantic compound, its left side features the speech radical "讠", linking the action to spoken communication, while the right side, "寿", provides the phonetic component. The traditional form, 譸, combines the unsimplified radical "言" with the phonetic "壽". Historically used in literary texts to describe fraud and verbal manipulation, 诪 functions as a formal term for dishonesty. Its use is now largely confined to written works, having been largely replaced in modern speech by other vocabulary.
