About
The character 阄 derives from its traditional form 鬮, composed of the radical 鬭 (struggle) and the phonetic-semantic component 龜 (turtle). This structure reflects the historical use of turtle shells in divination and drawing lots to settle disputes. During simplification, the outer component 鬭 was replaced by the boundary radical 门, while the inner component became the simplified turtle character 龜. 阄 primarily means to draw lots or cast lots to determine an outcome or allocate items.
