About
The character 见 (jiàn), derived from the traditional 見, originally combined the eye radical 目 (mù) above the figure 儿 (ér), visually depicting a person using their eye to establish the core meaning of seeing, perceiving, or observing. Although the simplified form alters the upper section, the semantic focus on vision remains. The meaning later extended to include meeting, expressing an opinion, or encountering a situation.
