About

辑 is a phono-semantic compound with the vehicle radical 车 (or 車 in traditional form) on the left and the phonetic element 咠 on the right. Originally, it referred to the components of a carriage or the act of assembling parts to form a functional vehicle. This sense of unifying separate elements into a whole later extended to mean gathering, compiling, or editing disparate texts or information into a structured publication or collection.
