About
The traditional form is 頁. Originally depicting a human head, it combines a top component (𦣻) indicating the head with a bottom component (儿) representing a person. Its meaning later shifted from a physical head to a page or leaf of paper, likely through semantic borrowing, with the turning of pages likened to the nodding or turning of a head. The simplified form 页 retains the general outline with reduced strokes and now functions as a radical in characters related to heads, faces, or documents, such as 颜 (face) or 顶 (top).
